Flutist Matthew Angelo is an active orchestral, chamber, and solo performer. Currently based in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he serves as the Orchestra Operations and Personnel Manager for the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. Matthew has given performances across the United States as well as France, the Czech Republic, and China. He has performed with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Bay-Atlantic Symphony, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Philadelphia Festival Symphony Orchestra, Pocono Pops, Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, and is a flutist with the Liberty Wind Symphony.

In February 2018, Matthew released a debut album Three-Nine Line on the MSR Classics label with flutists Mary Matthews and Nicole Chamberlain, featuring Nicole's original music. One of Matthew's tracks, Lilliputian for piccolo and music box, has been described as “a highlight of the CD” (Flutist Quarterly), stating that “his tone is sweet and pure, and interpretation effectively straightforward.”

An active chamber musician, Matthew is a performing artist and founding member of the Maryland Wind Festival and Maryland Chamber Winds as well as the Manor Winds quintet. In 2015 he was invited to perform at the annual Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium in Winchester, VA and in 2016 and 2018 at the National Flute Association Conventions in San Diego, CA and Orlando, FL. A strong advocate of new music, he has been involved in twenty world premiere performances. 

 

As a soloist, Matthew has performed with the Maryland Chamber Winds, the historic Quakertown Band, and the West Chester University Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded for Naxos with The Hartt Wind Ensemble, as well as MSR Classics and Mark Records with the West Chester University Wind Ensemble.​

 

Matthew holds a Master of Music Degree from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music Degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. His teachers include Dr. Kimberley Reighley and Janet Arms.
